Antique McGuffey’s Fifth Eclectic Reader Revised Edition | Incomplete 1800s School Book | Primitive Decor

PLEASE NOTE: This antique book is incomplete. The surviving text begins at page 19 and continues through page 350. Front matter and earlier pages are missing. Sold as found for collection, display, historical interest, or decor.

A wonderfully timeworn copy of McGuffey’s Fifth Eclectic Reader, a classic American school reader associated with generations of 19th-century education.

This copy has tremendous authentic character. The aged cloth cover still displays the ornate “McGuffey’s Fifth Eclectic Reader – Revised Edition” design, while the interior contains period handwriting, pencil marks and drawings left by previous owners.

The book shows significant age and use, including heavy cover and edge wear, deterioration along the spine/binding, exposed binding material, discoloration, writing and markings, and general wear to the pages. Please review all photographs carefully. It is being offered as found and unrestored. No attempt has been made to erase the inscriptions or repair the binding.

A beautiful piece for an antique book collection, historic school display, primitive farmhouse vignette, library decor, teacher gift, or Americana collection.
